Author: Dancetomato
Pairing: X/O, from Willow’s POV, thus getting me out of the need to actually write Oz…
Rating: No smut. More’s the pity.
Flavor: Bittersweet
Inspiration: This icon I found in a Google image search. It was a thumbnail, but the main link was dead. I wish I knew who the artist was, because it is a stunning manip.
Many thanks to
For: Moosesal’s 30th bday! Birthday spankings galore for my sweet Sal!
Buffy just didn’t get it. At first she was majorly squicked. Then she was curious. What exactly did boys do together? Her questions led to some famously awkward discussions with Giles. There were diagrams, and Giles’ glasses had never been cleaner. Now, though, Buffy simply rolled her eyes at Willow when Oz dropped his laconic attitude and nuzzled Xander during research parties.
Willow had long ago convinced Buffy that she really was okay with these two loves of her life finding a life without her. It was perfect, she told Buffy. She loved Xander and she loved Oz and now they loved each other. It made sense when you thought about it. Whatever qualities had drawn her to Xander on that playground, to Oz in that school lounge, that was what now drew them to each other. There was no explaining it otherwise. Slight and tall. Concise and loquacious. Red--or blue, or green, or black--and brunet. They were yin and yang. They were made for each other. Yes, Willow concluded with her resolve face, she was fine with the relationship between her two former loves. Finer than fine. Finest even.
Still, she felt herself flinch every time they smiled at each other. Neither had ever smiled at her like that.
And a drabble inspired haiku:
The radiant smiles
make her catch her breath. Lovely.
Also, heartbreaking.

It's perfectly Willow, to say she's alright and be happy, and to make everyone else be the same, but to still flinch ... deep sigh of excellent characterization
That you based on one of Sal's haiku's makes this even more precious.
